21 March 15:00 The writer-composer-performer Alpha Thiam was born in Guinea into a family of the Tukulor aristocracy, one of the tribes that form the great Fulani ethnic group in West Africa. A guitarist and composer, Alpha Thiam was inspired by the vast musical repertoire of Mali, Senegal, the Ivory Coast, Liberia and Burkina Faso. He sings in Fulani, Mandingo and Susu, and combines his electric guitar with the kora of Nathalie Cora, the bass of Cédric Dind-Lavoie and the percussion of Moïse Yawo Matey (calebash, djembé, cajón or Cuban drum box).
